Maximum flexibility for the heaviest loads

Ergonomic transport of battery modules weighing 2.2 tonnes

The customer

Richter Spezial GmbH is a leading supplier of transport equipment and weighing solutions. The company developed an innovative transport solution for a start-up in the battery industry that moves even the heaviest battery modules weighing over 2.2 tonnes safely, flexibly and ergonomically.

The challenge

The task: Battery modules weighing over 2.2 tonnes had to be moved approximately every two hours on a production line with up to 12 workstations. The end customer wanted a solution that was not automated but could be operated manually – for maximum flexibility in everyday work. An additional challenge was that there was no standard solution for this special application. A planned driverless transport system (DTS) could not meet the desired requirements – especially in terms of flexibility, ergonomics and costs.

Our solution

Together with Blickle, Richter Spezial GmbH developed a robust transport trolley that was specially designed for this application. Equipped with the ErgoMove 4000 electric drive system and specially selected castors with a particularly low overall height, the trolley enables the heavy battery modules to be transported safely, flexibly and ergonomically.

A crucial detail: the handle was deliberately positioned on the left side of the trolley. This allows the operator to walk alongside the trolley, maintain a clear overview at all times and control transport ergonomically and safely – even in confined production areas.

The result

With the new solution, the customer can now transport its battery modules easily, safely and flexibly. Manual operation allows precise manoeuvring even in confined working areas. Users benefit from a significant reduction in physical strain, while occupational safety is noticeably increased. Compared to the originally planned AGV solution, the customer saves considerable investment costs – and gains flexibility and efficiency at the same time.
