Safety redefined
ErgoMove 2000P makes door transport at Premdor safe
Premdor Crosby Limited, one of the UK’s leading door manufacturers, has long placed employee safety at the heart of its operations. Through its Safer Together campaign, Premdor continuously evaluates and evolves its workplace safety practices, working closely with suppliers to identify opportunities for improvement. A recent collaboration with Blickle’s ErgoMove business unit has resulted in a tailored solution that enhances the safe movement of heavy materials within the factory setting a new benchmark for ergonomic intralogistics, thanks to the ErgoMove 2000P electric drive system.
When every transport becomes a hazard
The challenge of transporting stacked doors weighing over a tonne has always required careful attention. While existing systems were designed with safety in mind, Premdor saw an opportunity to go further. The company partnered with Blickle to develop a solution that integrates seamlessly into its current rail infrastructure, reducing physical strain and increasing control, all without compromising operational efficiency.
ErgoMove as the perfect solution
Together with Blickle's ErgoMove business unit, a solution was developed that fits seamlessly into the existing rail system. At its heart is the ErgoMove 2000P, which has been specially adapted to the conditions at Premdor. A software change ensures that the trolley can only move forwards and backwards, thus guaranteeing precise tracking within the rails. The speed was also tailored precisely to the requirements: at 0.5 km/h, the trolley moves in a controlled manner in both directions. This means that employees are protected at all times, while at the same time no effort is required to start or stop the heavy loads.
More confidence, more ergonomics, more safety
The impact has been immediate and positive. Employees now work in a more relaxed and safer manner because the risk of injury has been completely minimised. Operation is simple, ergonomics have improved noticeably – and the material flow is reliable and controlled. The positive experiences quickly convinced Premdor: eight additional systems have now been ordered to equip all rail cars in the factory with ErgoMove. This collaboration between Premdor and Blickle demonstrates how safety innovation can be driven by shared values and mutual commitment. What began as a search for incremental improvement has become a showcase for modern, employee-focused intralogistics, proving that when safety is a shared priority, everyone benefits.
