Safe drum handling made easy
ErgoMove in lift2move for ergonomic pharmaceutical production
The customer

EXPRESSO Deutschland GmbH & Co. KG is a premium supplier of lifting and handling systems that develops customised solutions for a wide range of industries – modular, well thought-out and adaptable. A new handling concept for heavy 200-litre drums was developed for a customer in the pharmaceutical industry. With the support of ErgoMove, the new system ensures maximum ergonomics, occupational safety and efficiency in daily production.

The challenge

In the production hall of the pharmaceutical company, 200-litre drums with a total weight of up to 200 kilograms have to be lifted, turned and moved regularly – previously a feat of strength for two people and associated with a high risk of material loss and physical strain. The requirement for Blickle was clear: an ergonomic, safe and easy-to-use system was needed. It had to be operable by one person and the process had to be carried out without forklifts or cranes. The conventional transport solutions used previously had reached their limits: lack of flexibility, limited manoeuvrability and risks to occupational safety.

Our solution

EXPRESSO opted for a combination of the proven lift2move 400 and the powerful ErgoMove 1000 electric drive system from Blickle. The result: an ergonomic system with which drums can now be moved easily, safely and efficiently by a single person – without any external aids. One highlight of the solution is the sensor handle, which makes it easy to manoeuvre the heavy drums. Thanks to its flexible approachability from all four sides, the lift2move can move directly up to any pallet – saving time and increasing precision. With the help of a special parameterisation module, the solution was tailored precisely to the customer's requirements.

The result

The new drum handling system is impressive across the board: processes are not only more efficient, but also safer. This reduces personnel costs while improving ergonomics and employee satisfaction. The solution also pays off economically: less waste, shorter throughput times and reliable transport reduce operating costs. The customer in the pharmaceutical industry also benefits from consistent process reliability – a decisive factor in sensitive pharmaceutical production.
