Efficient transport in the semiconductor industry

Ergonomic solution for cleanroom environments

The customer

A leading technology provider in the semiconductor industry faced the challenge of transporting heavy yet highly sensitive components safely and ergonomically under cleanroom conditions. The components are used in high-precision production processes and therefore place high demands on handling, stability and process reliability.

The challenge

The manufacture of sensitive high-tech components in cleanroom environments places high demands on personnel, materials and the transport technology used. Transporting components weighing up to 1,400 kilograms proved particularly challenging. These had to be moved between different production areas whilst wearing protective clothing and positioned with precision.
The existing trolleys were to continue to be used, but needed to be retrofitted to improve their ergonomics. At the same time, space was limited in certain production areas, necessitating special adaptations. Given the heavy loads involved, the previous manual solution was difficult to manoeuvre and no longer adequately met ergonomic requirements.

Our solution

Blickle developed a customised special solution based on the ErgoMove 2000P. The Electric Drive System was designed to meet both the ergonomic requirements and the specific conditions of the cleanroom environment.
The focus was on controlled electric driving assistance, a version that facilitates cleaning, and safe operation under various load conditions. The driving parameters were adapted to the specific application to enable controlled handling both when loaded and unloaded.
Furthermore, the system was integrated into the existing transport trolleys. Blickle supported the project from technical adaptation through to retrofitting and the necessary documentation.

The result

With the retrofitted ErgoMove solution, heavy and sensitive components can be moved within the cleanroom much more easily, safely and precisely. The workload on staff during transport is noticeably reduced, whilst the components can be moved stably and in a controlled manner between production areas.
The solution thus contributes to improved ergonomics, greater occupational safety and reliable transport processes in demanding cleanroom environments.
