Efficient and ergonomic production line with ErgoMove

Electric drive system lowers the safety and ergonomics risk rating by 71 points

The customer

... is an American company that manufactures agricultural machinery, heavy machinery, forestry machinery, diesel engines and drivetrains for heavy machinery and lawn care equipment.

The challenge

During the production process, employees are responsible for transporting the picking units used in cotton harvesters. These units are installed on trolleys that weigh around 1,000 kilograms each. To set them in motion in the production rhythm, an initial thrust of over 45 kilograms is required. The units, which cover a total distance of 90 meters, are operated by nine different employees. The manual pulling of these trolleys not only poses ergonomic hazards due to the force required to pull and push them, but also risks of jamming and collisions. The assessment of the safety and ergonomic risks is 74 points.

Our solution

ErgoMove 1000 von Blickle

In collaboration with the installation team, the Blickle experts fine-tuned the parameters of the retrofitted ErgoMove 1000. As a safety measure and to extend battery life, the standby time was reduced from 60 seconds to 10 seconds. The introduction of the ErgoMove 1000 resulted in a significant reduction in operating time for each employee - over 2.5 minutes were saved per operation. In addition, the customized trolley can seamlessly navigate tight curves along the production line and can be easily connected to the existing lift tables. The customer is very satisfied with the result: improved ergonomics and safety thanks to greatly reduced physical strain and features such as the dead man's brake, anti-static running surface and foot guards. Following the implementation of the ErgoMove 1000, the safety and ergonomics risk score is just 3 points - a great success.
