Efficient and safe order picking in distribution centers

Multitube specializes in lean manufacturing hardware and offers innovative solutions for logistics processes. When developing a new order picking trolley for a distribution center, the focus was on optimizing ergonomics and safety. The high demands on flexibility and efficiency of the processes required an advanced solution - found in the ErgoMove electric drive systems from Blickle.

In modern distribution centers, order picking trolleys have to withstand high loads every day. Multitube developed a new transport trolley that can move loads of up to 500 kilograms. The challenge was to reduce the physical strain on employees while increasing safety and efficiency. Particular challenges arose from the transport between the shelves, the use on raised platforms - the so-called mezzanine levels - as well as the numerous start-stop processes that the system has to cope with.

By using the ErgoMove 500 , Multitube benefits from an ergonomically optimized, safe and efficient picking solution that sustainably improves everyday logistics work. The trolley is equipped with electrically driven rollers from the ErgoMove 500 series which, in combination with the rotary encoder control, enable controlled acceleration, movement and braking. Thanks to individual parameterization, the speed and travel modes can be flexibly adapted, while programmable shortcuts allow a quick change between different operating modes. This results in optimized control and a precise workflow. The ErgoMove 500 offers other essential safety features, including an emergency stop mechanism that automatically stops the trolley as soon as the handle is released, thus significantly minimizing the risk of accidents. In addition, electrostatically dissipative casters and a locking foot protect employees from injury. Guide rollers on the sides ensure precise straight-line travel between the shelves. The flexibility of the system is maximized by the simple battery exchange, so that the trolley remains ready for use at all times. In addition, the transport option with a forklift truck makes it easy to use on different levels, contributing to an even more efficient logistics solution.
