Reliable movement of large air-flow blowers under extreme conditions

High-performance electric drive assistance with ErgoMove 4000

The challenge

A machinery manufacturer was faced with the task of moving large and heavy air-flow blowers along rails with precision and reliability. The application was characterised by extreme environmental conditions and high demands: temperatures ranging from -40 °C to +60 °C, a total weight of up to 4 tonnes, and frequent position changes during production and testing.
Furthermore, operation was to be carried out by a single person wherever possible, without making extensive modifications to the existing, tried-and-tested designs. In particular, the power supply under extreme temperature conditions posed a technical challenge.

Our solution

By using ErgoMove® 4000, a high-performance yet flexible solution was achieved. The Electric Drive System was integrated into the existing chassis and enables the controlled movement of the heavy blowers.
A key element is the use of a replaceable battery pack, which is specifically designed for the extended temperature range. This can be easily disconnected when the system is stationary and quickly reconnected as required, thereby ensuring a reliable power supply.
The solution enables intuitive control, precise positioning of the system and easy integration into the existing structure – with minimal adaptation required.

Results and customer benefits

Significant improvements are evident in day-to-day operation: the airflow fans can be moved safely and precisely by just one person, which reduces staffing requirements and simplifies processes. At the same time, efficiency is improved as position changes can be carried out more quickly and in a controlled manner.
Thanks to the replaceable battery, the system remains reliably operational even under extreme temperature conditions. The existing structure could remain largely unchanged, thereby avoiding additional development costs.
Furthermore, the electric assistance significantly reduces the physical strain on staff and enhances safety through controlled movement sequences.

Conclusion

The movement of large air-induction fans under extreme conditions places high demands on technology and operability. With ErgoMove® 4000, a solution has been created that combines performance, flexibility and reliability.
The result is an efficient, safe and ergonomic handling process that can be optimally integrated into existing applications – even under the most demanding environmental conditions.
