Improved Ergonomics for Cable Cutting

KABELMAT Wickeltechnik GmbH specializes in winding, measuring, and storage technology. The company develops and manufactures machines and systems for processing cables, wires, pipes, hoses, and other windable materials. The MOTROL 1000 winding machine is used for processing a wide variety of materials, such as cables, pipes, or steel cables. The material is wound onto rings or empty spools, measured to the desired length, and then automatically cut. With a total weight of up to 1.763,7 pounds, handling the machines poses a particular challenge. This can lead to increased physical strain and limit ease of use in everyday work.

To significantly improve the handling of the winding machine, KABELMAT opted to use the ErgoMove® 1000 Electric Drive System from Blickle. The solution consists of two drive casters, two swivel caster wheels, and an Ergonomic-Cockpit with power sensors. The system detects the force applied by the operator and converts it into electrical drive assistance tailored to the task at hand. This allows even heavy loads to be moved safely and precisely with minimal effort. The winding machine is easier to move, can be positioned more precisely, and is simpler to maneuver.

With ErgoMove®, KABELMAT was able to sustainably improve the ergonomics and user-friendliness of its winding machines. The conclusion is correspondingly positive: “ErgoMove® is the perfect complement to our winding machines. The electrically assisted solution noticeably reduces physical load during handling and makes the daily operation of the machines easier. Based on this positive experience, KABELMAT is already planning to equip additional series of winding machines with ErgoMove®.
